About the Author
Graham Sumner was born in 1958. He studied illustration at Wrexham Art School and has specialised in archaeological reconstruction drawings. Graham has been involved with the Ermine Street Guard for nearly 20 years. He has written a number of articles on the Roman Army for Military Illustrated magazine and was the author of the popular Roman Army: Wars of the Empire in Brasseys' History of Uniform series. After having purchased all three of the Roman Military Clothing books, volumes, 1, 2, and 3. I came to realize that these begin to feel like part of a larger work. Graham Sumner has a larger work called Roman Military Dress that covers all three volumes and perhaps in much more detail. But if your are like me you can't pass up a book on Roman history.
Splendid work. Author shows his expertise on the subject. Well researched, easy to read, and well written. A must for uniformologists, reenactors , miniature wargamers and antiquarians. As an historian, a military man and a miniature wargamer this work has special meaning for me.

Roman military Is pretty much described in general terms. This book adds a new view of what was worn in this time period in the Roman army. Details are very good as are the illustrations.
